This is a dwarf Indian Hawthorn variety. It is incredibly popular because it is virtually indestructible once established, forming a neat, low hedge that bursts with white flowers from winter through to spring.
Light: Thrives in full sun to light shade. More sun equals more flowers and a tighter, denser growth habit.
Soil: Very versatile. Prefers well-drained soil but handles sandy soils and heavy clay reasonably well.
Watering: Low water needs. Water regularly until established (first 3-6 months), after which it is highly drought-tolerant.
Maintenance: Exceptionally low maintenance. You can trim it after flowering in spring if you want to shape it into a formal ball or low hedge, but left alone, it naturally stays quite neat and compact. Coastal salt spray and wind won’t bother it at all.
