Light: Highly versatile. It loves full sun but happily tolerates partial shade. In deep shade, its growth will slow down and the foliage will become slightly less dense.
Soil: Requires fertile, moist, but well-draining soil. It is highly adaptive to different soil pH levels but detests heavy, waterlogged clay, which can rot its shallow root system.
Watering: Moderate. Water deeply once or twice a week while the young plants establish their roots. Once established, it becomes remarkably drought-hardy, though it looks its best with regular watering during dry summer spells.
Feeding: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring and again in late summer. This fuels the flush of lime-green growth that eventually darkens to emerald.
