Light: Incredibly adaptable—it will thrive in everything from blazing full sun to dense part shade.
Soil: Prefers moist, well-drained soil but will tolerate almost any soil type, including heavy clay, once it settles in.
Watering: Water regularly during its first couple of growing seasons to encourage a thick, tight hedge. Once established, it only needs supplementary watering during heatwaves.
