Green Rocket (Euonymus japonicus)
An exceptional choice for tight spaces. It grows as a narrow, upright column of glossy, dark green leaves, making it a perfect low-maintenance, formal screen.
Light: Incredibly adaptable—it will thrive in everything from blazing full sun to dense part shade.
Soil: Prefers moist, well-drained soil but will tolerate almost any soil type, including heavy clay, once it settles in.
Watering: Water regularly during its first couple of growing seasons to encourage a thick, tight hedge. Once established, it only needs supplementary watering during heatwaves.
Pruning: It naturally holds an upright, columnar shape, meaning it requires far less clipping than traditional hedging plants (like boxwoods). Just trim the top and sides once or twice a year in spring or autumn to keep your lines perfectly sharp.
